Nick: What’s up? I’m Nick and this breathtaking blonde sitting next to me is Karina.

Karina: Hey! Happy Fall—well, almost Fall. Nick and I are back for another takeover where we spend the night answering twenty-one random questions selected by our author and readers.

Nick: Otherwise known as Buzzkill Friday.

Karina: 😅 It’s not a total buzzkill. We always end up having fun with these, even if some of the questions get a bit… personal.

Nick: Look, I’m not saying that we don’t have a good time. But it’s been a long fucking day, and I’d rather skip the interrogation portion of the night and have some alone time with my wife.

Karina: I’ve missed you too. And I can’t wait to be completely alone with you, but we have the entire house and weekend all to ourselves. This will only take an hour, maybe two tops. So, let’s have a couple of beers, enjoy the fire, and learn a bit more about each other. Please.

Nick: Fine, but after this you’re all mine. 😉

Karina: Can’t wait. 😘

Nick: That’s what I like to hear. Now, let’s get this fucking party started, shall we?

 

1. What’s the strangest thing that happened to you today?

Nick: Aria made it to school on time, without a single protest or fight.

Karina: 😮 You’re kidding.

Nick: Nope. I didn’t even need to drag her ass out of bed. She was up and ready to go, waiting for me in the kitchen. Perky as a ray of fucking sunshine too.

Karina: Uh-oh. Think she wants something?

Nick: Given the level of ass-kissing, I’d bet my life on it. Not sure what she’s after, but I’m gonna make her work for it either way.

Karina: 😄 You’re enjoying this, aren’t you?

Nick: Yup. 😏 How about you? Experience any anomalies today?

Karina: Yes. Guess who I ran into at the grocery store today?

Nick: Who?

Karina: Raichel. Ash and I were in the produce section when Raichel rounded the corner and ran right into our cart.

Nick: 🤨 Was she lost?

Karina: No idea, but her cart was full of food, and I don’t mean snacks and booze. It looked like she was getting ready to cook a meal. For two.

Nick: That’s concerning. Last I checked, she didn’t even know how to use a stove.

Karina: Well, maybe she took cooking lessons.

Nick: Maybe. And maybe the volcanic pits in the Underworld have frozen over.

Karina: With the way things have been going lately, it wouldn’t surprise me.

Nick: Don’t remind me.

2. If you could erase someone from your memory, who would it be?

Karina: Not that it matters, since she’s nonexistent, but I’d say my mom. She’s just a waste of space, and that’s all I’m going to say about it.

Nick: It’s her loss.*He squeezes her hand.* You know if you want to talk, we can shut this shit down right now.

Karina: No. I’m not going to let her ruin our night. She’s taken enough from me, I’m not going to let her take this too. *She smiles softly.* I’m okay. Promise.

Nick: You sure?*He drapes his arm around her, tucking her against his side.*

Karina: Positive.*She pillows her head on his chest.* You probably want to erase your parents too, huh?

Nick: Tempting, but no.

Karina: *She lifts her eyes to his.* Really?

Nick: Really. As much as I fucking hate my parents, and any other assholes who’ve done me and mine dirty, I wouldn’t erase any of them. Every single asshat that’s come into my life has been a lesson. And I like to remember my lessons, so I don’t repeat my mistakes.

Karina: That’s a good way of looking at things.

3. What’s your most embarrassing and/or regrettable purchase?

Nick: The glitter kit I bought for Aria when she was seven.

Karina: Let me guess, she got glitter everywhere.

Nick: Yup. It looked like our place had been glitter-bombed by a group of unhinged fairies. That shit was everywhere.

Karina: Glitter is such a pain in the ass to clean up.

Nick: Tell me about it. I gave the staff a hefty raise for their efforts.

Karina: I’m sure they appreciated it. *She averts her gaze and mumbles.* At least you didn’t get drunk off your ass and buy a bunch of stupid shit.

Nick: 🤨 Care to share?

Karina: So, back in the day—when I was young and dumb—I got hammered on my aunt’s birthday, and after her party I decided to go on a little online shopping spree.

Nick: *Amusement twinkles in his eyes.* How little?

Karina: Oh, I only ended up buying four cases of wine, a vibrator, some bear repellant, and a fuckton of mp3s. *Blushes*

Nick: *Laughs* Bear repellant?

Karina: Your guess is as good as mine.

4. What’s your favorite breakfast food?

Karina: Eggs over-easy on buttered toast with tomato salad on the side. And coffee. With lots of cream. I can’t live without my coffee.

Nick: You don’t say. 😉 I’m all about a good breakfast scramble with some eggs, peppers, bacon and potatoes. Throw some toast on the side and a fresh cup of coffee and I’m a happy guy.

5. When was the last time you laughed? Why?

Nick: Not counting just now, this afternoon when Riss flipped out of her chair.

Karina: I felt so bad for her. I was trying not to laugh, but then when Max jumped on top of her and started licking her face, I couldn’t hold back any longer. 😂

Nick: *Chuckles* He tends to forget that people aren’t sofas.*He glances at his German Shepherd and rubs his head.* Don’t you?

Karina: Yeah, but he’s cute and he meant well. *She leans over and strokes Max’s soft fur, talking to him in a sweet in tone.* Yes, you did.

Nick: That’s exactly why he gets away with murder.

Max: *Looks up, grunts and closes his eyes, resting his head on Nick’s lap.*

6. Name a scent that reminds you of home.

Karina: Hmm… Leather and bourbon and spicy bergamot blended with rich sandalwood.

Nick: *A sensual smile plays up on his lips.* You like the way I smell?

Karina: 😊You know I do. It’s part of the reason why I’m always stealing your shirts. They remind me of you, and you’re my home. *A rosy blush dusts her cheek*

Nick: Feeling’s mutual, sweetheart. I can’t get enough of your luscious vanilla-berry and jasmine scent. You’re my home. You will always be my home. *He captures her mouth in a tender kiss.*

7. Have you ever watched a show and/or movie just because your significant other liked it? If so, which one?

Nick: Yup. We just started watching the second season of Bridgerton. 

Karina: You know you don’t have to watch it with me.

Nick: And you know I never do anything I don’t want to.😉

Karina: 😊 I know.

Nick: And it’s not like you haven’t done the same. You’ve watched sports and some of my shows, even though you weren’t into them.

Karina: Honestly, I’ve grown to love some of your shows, especially Altered Carbon. It was so unbelievably good.

Nick: Yeah, I’m not a big sci-fi guy, but it’s one of my faves.

8. Would you rather befriend a vampire or werewolf?

Karina: Hmm… I honestly don’t know. I know both species exist—or used to—but I haven’t had the chance to meet any of them. But, if they were nice, then I’d be open to being friends.

Nick: Used to be friends with both, but the wolves moved north and the vampires just up and vanished. Haven’t seen a vamp in over a century. Not sure what happened to them.

Karina: That’s so weird.

Nick: Yeah, we were trying to locate them a while back, but either they don’t want to be found, or they’ve gone extinct.

Karina: I hope it’s not the latter.

Nick: Ditto.

9. How comfortable are you with public displays of affection?

Nick: I’ve got no problem with PDA. As long as Kari’s comfortable, then I’m good. I like letting every motherfucker out there know that she’s mine.

Karina: Honestly, I love PDA. I love the kissing and hugging and hand-holding and the lingering touches when we’re out together… Hell, I just love you and I love that everyone knows it. *Blushes*

Nick: I love you, too. *He brushes his lips against hers.*

10. Do you have an old and/or worn item of clothing you can’t bear to part with?

Karina: Yeah. I have this pair of jeans that are just ancient and practically threadbare, but they are so soft and comfy that I can’t bring myself to throw them out.

Nick: Wear them around the house. No need to toss them.

Karina: Yeah, but they don’t fit all that great anymore. That’s the problem.

Nick: If you don’t want to get rid of them, don’t. Not like we don’t have the closet space.

Karina: True. How about you? Any clothes you can’t bear to part with?

Nick: Just an old, faded college hoodie that no longer fits.

Karina: You know, I’d be more than happy to take it off your hands. 😁

Nick: *Smiles* It’s all yours, sweetheart.

11. Are you ticklish? If so, where?

Nick: Nope. Not in the slightest. *His lips curve up in a sinfully sly smile as his gaze shifts to Kari.* Need some help finding your ticklish spots? You know I’m more than happy to be of assistance. 😉

Karina: 😅 Nick. No. Do not even think about going for my feet.

Nick: Okay. *A playful grin tugs up on his lips as his hand glides up her calf, his fingers teasing the back of her knee.*

Karina: 🤣 Stop.

Nick: Your wish is my command. 😉 *He glides his hand up her thigh, over her hips and under her sweater, his fingertips dancing along her ribs.*

Karina: *She throws her head back in a fit of laughter.* Stop. Please. *Squeals*  I can’t take it.

Nick: You sure? *He pauses and leans in, his warm breath grazing her ear.* Maybe there’s something else I can help with? 😉

Karina: Ah… Later… After we’re done… *She smiles coyly as a rosy blush dusts her cheeks.*

Nick: *He kisses her slow and deep.* Later it is. 😉

Karina: 😘😍

12. What’s something you love watching your significant other do?

Karina: OMG, so many things. I love watching Nick drive, and cook, and fix things or put them together… Oh hell, who am I kidding? I just love watching him use his hands. *Blushes*

Nick: *He cocks his brow as a devilish smile plays up on his lips.* Is that so?

Karina: Mm-hmm. I couldn’t stop staring when you were putting Aria’s new desk together last weekend and then yesterday when you installed the new faucet in our bathroom…Yeah… *She bites her lip.* Your hands… I fucking love your hands. *A crimson blush blooms on her cheeks.*

Nick: I am good with my hands. Got plenty of talents. 😉

Karina: Oh. I know. 😍😘

Nick: I love watching Kari dance, especially when she thinks no one’s watching.

Karina: I do love dancing. It feels so liberating to just get lost in the music and forget all about the world, you know.

Nick: I know. You’re damn good at it too. Don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone so carefree and limber.

Karina: I am extremely agile. 😘

Nick: I know. 😉

13. Would you ever spend the night in a cemetery?

Nick: Why the fuck would I sleep in a graveyard when I’ve got a perfectly comfortable bed at home?

Karina: Right? It just seems so disrespectful and creepy. I don’t get it.

Nick: Humans love their dumb fucking thrills, until a demon or some vengeful spirit comes along, then they’re pissing their pants and running scared. They’re a pain in my fucking ass.

Karina: Yeah and Halloween’s coming up, so that means the ghost hunters will be back at Lost Souls.

Nick: Fuck. *He rubs his temples.*

14. Have you ever stolen food off your significant other’s plate?

Karina: Guilty as charged.😅 Though, I usually ask Nick before snagging food off his plate.

Nick: And you know I’m more than happy to share.

Karina: I do, and you can steal my food anytime. You don’t even have to ask. I owe you for all those stolen bites and nibbles.

Nick: You don’t owe me anything. As long as you’re happy and not roaming around hangry, we’re good. 😉

Karina: 😊

15. Name at least one little thing your significant other does that helps improve your day.

Nick: Kari’s thoughtful. She always knows when I need something, whether it’s coffee or some food, or help fielding calls from the other covens and Council. She knows how to ease my stress.

Karina: 😊 I’m more than happy to help. I know how hard your job is and if I can make your day easier, then I try my best.

Nick: And you know I appreciate it.

Karina: I do. And I appreciate it when you check in on me, or buy me pumpkin spice lattes from my favorite café, or when you threaten the head of the Council’s life after he gave me shit about my latest passion project.

Nick: You know I’ve always got your back, right?

Karina: I do. 😊 And right back at you. 😘

16. If you could dedicate a song to your significant other, what would it be?

Karina: You Say by Lauren Daigle. I think it might be a religious song, but the lyrics just fit my feelings perfectly.

Nick: *Smiles* Camera by Ed Sheeran.

Karina: *Her eyes shimmer with tears.* I absolutely love that song.

Nick: I know you do. *He wipes her eyes and smiles softly.* It suits you, us, perfectly.

Karina: It does. It really does. 😭

Nick: *He brushes his lips against hers, kissing her slow and deep until the tears fade.*

17. What’s one of the biggest misconceptions people have about you?

Nick: I don’t give a fuck what some random stranger perceives me to be. Kari, my friends, my family, they all know who I am, and their opinions are the only ones that matter. Everyone else can fuck off.

Karina: *Sighs* People have this stupid fucking tendency to confuse me with a doormat. All because I’m empathetic and actually care about others.

Nick: Sweetheart, you are not a doormat. Anyone who knows you knows that.

Karina: I know. But people still test me, still try to stomp all over me and take advantage of me. And then my inner bitch surfaces and they get all offended and surprised that I’m capable of standing up for myself. It’s an exhausting cycle.

Nick: Want me to teach them a lesson? I’m an expert at schooling dumb motherfuckers in the art of respect.

Karina: 😄 I think I’ve got it handled. *She pats his arm.*

Nick: If you change your mind, you know where to find me.😉

Karina: I know. 😘🥰

18. Do you prefer brewing potions or casting spells?

Karina: Casting spells, especially healing spells. They just seem to come naturally to me.

Nick: That’s because you are a natural. You’re a damn good healer.

Karina: Yeah, but I wouldn’t be as good without you. You helped me gain control.

Nick: That’s what I’m here for. Among other things. 😉

Karina: 😘 I think I know your answer.

Nick: And what’s that?

Karina: Casting spells.

Nick: Yup. I don’t have the patience for brewing potions. That’s all Riss.

19. Would rather go on a hayride or walk through a corn maze?

Nick: Hayride. I’m all corn-mazed out.

Karina: 😬 Aria?

Nick: Yup. Every year she wants to hit up the corn maze and every fucking year, she has a hissy after ten minutes or so. Last year’s meltdown was the last and final strike. I’m out.

Karina: Yeah, I don’t blame you. Lexi’s so claustrophobic, she won’t even go near one.

Nick: Aria’s not claustrophobic, she just doesn’t have the patience to find her way out of the damn maze.

Karina: I can relate. I’d much rather go on a hayride. It’s way more relaxing.

Nick: Yup.

20. What was your last charitable act?

Karina: Nick and I visited the orphanage last weekend.

Nick: Yeah, we head out there once a month, or we try to. But we always end up doing activities with the kids and then top off the evening with story time.

Karina: The kids always have so much fun too. I love seeing their eyes light up, love that they look so happy and carefree, especially since their lives have been so rough.

Nick: Yeah, you can’t help but feel for them, but that’s why we visit.

Karina: I’m just glad we’re able to make a difference, even if it’s small.

Nick: *Smiles* That’s for sure.

21. What do you like most about Fall?

Nick: The end of tourist season.

Karina: 😅 It is nice having our town go back to normal—or at least what we consider normal—after all the summer chaos. But I think what I like the most is the cooler weather and snuggling by the fire with you to stay warm. *She smiles at Nick.*

Nick: *Smiles* How about we head inside, and I promise I’ll keep you nice and toasty. 😉

Karina: You know, I am feeling a bit chilly…

 

Nick: And that’s a wrap.
